This Parish Church wants to share the message of GOOD NEWS about Jesus. He alone holds the key to human life, and we want to share His love.
We are part of a worldwide family of Churches that trace their roots to the British Isles. Traders, merchants and soldiers seem to have brought the Christian Faith to Britain shortly after it became part of the Roman Empire in the middle of the First Century AD. We affirm our fidelity to the whole Faith as revealed by Jesus Christ as proclaimed by the Apostles, evangelists, saints, scholars and martyrs of the Early Church and taught in Holy Scripture. Sixteen hundred years later, during what we call the Reformation, the Church of England emerged as a unique institution.
We are a Parish under the jurisdiction of the Episcopal Missionary Church (EMC), which preserves and proclaims the faith of what was known for many years as the Protestant Episcopal Church in the United States. The first Episcopal Bishop was elected in 1783, and in 1789 the use of the American Book of Common Prayer was authorised. Since that time the Episcopal Church has spread to all parts of this country. However, during the last thirty-five or so years, the mainstream Episcopal Church has seemed to abandon most of the tradition of historic Anglican Faith and Practice. It is this tradition that we and many other former Episcopalians and other faithful Anglicans are seeking to preserve and proclaim.
Our Faith and Worship are set forth in the last orthodox American edition of the historic Book of Common Prayer, that of 1928. This treasure of English language, scriptural spirituality and worship has shaped the lives of countless faithful Christians across the world through the centuries, and is the basis of our services of worship. Threequarters of the Book of Common Prayer is actual Scripture.
We insist upon the authority of Holy Scripture as the rule and guide of our faith and believe that the Holy Scriptures contain all the doctrine necessary for salvation.
We believe that a life of Christian service is possible only through a full life of worship, through which we receive God's love and express our love to Him. Hence, we believe it is our obligation not only to worship God together every Lord's Day (Sunday) but also to have a daily life of prayer.
