Wayman Memorial A.M.E. Church in the "Pigtown" Community in South Baltimore is an exciting Spirit filled growing ministry. Wayman is in the Potomac District of the Washington Annual Conference, under the leadership of Bishop Vinton R. Anderson, the Presiding Prelate of the Second Episcopal District, Presiding Elder Louis-Charles Harvey of the Potomac District and the "Dynamic Duo" of Pastor Courtney D. Canty and Assistant Pastor Rev. Robin D.S. Canty.
"The Miracle on Washington Boulevard"
The slogan "The Miracle on Washington Boulevard was penned in 1985 by Bishop John Hurst Adams, who helped the small congregation, through the leadership of the late Howard E. Nichols, purchase the current sanctuary and fellowship center (Howard E. Nichols Hall) for approximately $85,000 in cash. Through much prayer, hard work and the grace of GOD the tiny congregation was able to move from a row house on Bayard Street into the a beautiful facility.
