Will You Go To Heaven When You Die?
Most people tend to believe in an afterlife of some kind. The Bible, God's word to humanity, tells us that heaven is a real place, AND that there is only one way to get there. I want you to know that God's purpose is that YOU have eternal life in heaven. How do you receive that eternal life? I'm glad you asked.
The first step you must take in receiving eternal life is to recognize your need for it. Because every human being on earth is a sinner, we cannot enter into God's presence. His Word tells us that All have sinned, and come short of the glory of God (Romans 3:23). Also, we cannot save ourselves from the cost of that sin: The wages [cost] of sin is death (Romans 6:23). Because God is holy and just, He must punish sin. Yet, He loves YOU and me so much that He has provided forgiveness for our sin. God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were yet sinners, Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). The Way is simple: Jesus said, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man comes unto the Father, but by me (John 14:6).
What makes Jesus so special, you ask? Well, In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God. . . . And the Word became flesh, and dwelt among us . . . (John 1:1,14). Realize that Jesus died for YOU and me on the cross, taking from us the cost of sin. The Bible tells us that Christ also died for sins once and for all, the just for the unjust, so that He might bring us to God, having been put to death in the flesh . . . (1 Peter 3:18). More than that, know that God raised Him from death. He was delivered over because of our trangressions, and was raised because of our justification (Romans 4:25). That's great news friends! But the only way Jesus can affect YOUR LIFE is for you to receive Him. The Bible says, as many as received Him, to them He gave the right to become children of God, even to those who believe in His name (John 1:12).
IT'S YOUR CHOICE! Won't you trust Jesus to save you? If you've recognized your need for His salvation, here's what you must do: Repent [turn away] from your sins -- Repent . . . so that your sins may be wiped away (Acts 3:19). Then place your faith, your trust, in Jesus. Faith is not just believing Jesus exists, but trusting in Him. The Word of God tells us, For by grace you have been saved through faith; and that not of yourselves, it is the gift of God (Ephesians 2:8). You cannot earn your way to heaven. Finally, you must surrender to Jesus as Lord of your life. That means you give Him control of your life, and you ASK HIM to save you. If you confess with your mouth Jesus as Lord, and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved; for with the heart a person believes, resulting in righteousness, and with the mouth he confesses, resulting in salvation (Romans 10:9-10). If that's what you'd like to do, pray this simple prayer:
"Dear God, I know that Jesus is Your Son, and that He died on the cross and was raised from the dead. I know I have sinned and need Your forgiveness. I am willing to turn from my sins and receive Jesus as my Savior and Lord. Thank you for saving me. In Jesus' name I pray. Amen."
If you prayed this prayer, and you did it sincerely from your heart, let me be the first to say, Welcome to the family of God! The very next thing you should do is share your joy by telling your friends and family about it. Then attend a church this Sunday, and share with the pastor that you wish to be baptized and become a faithful member of the church. I pray that your new walk with Jesus Christ will be a productive one. Living the Christian life isn't easy, but the retirement plan is out of this world! God Bless.
ALWAYS AT WORK!
