Greetings From Pastor Perry

Greetings in the Name of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ. You are welcome to come and worship the Lord with us regardless of your race or color!! We Believe in the Father is God Almighty. The creator of all things and the preserver of light and life. We believe in the son, who is Jesus Christ, God's only begotten son. He was human and divine, truly lived, suffered and died, rose again from the dead, ascended on high, and is coming again. We believe that Jesus was sent by God to reveal God to man. That whosover believeth in Him shall not perish but have everlasting life. May God Bless You!! Elder O.T. Perry, Pastor

History of Bethel Tabernacle

Bethel Tabernacle United Holy Church was founded in the early 1920's by the Rev.Hopper. Next, Rev. Jones succeeded as pastor which as still during the mid 1920's. The first mother of the church in 1924 was Mrs. Dora Alston. We were told by old pioneers, that Bethel worshiped in a store front building on the corner of Carrington and Baxter St.in Durham, N.C. Thet stated they had great Hallelujah services because they lived Holy and enjoyed praising the Lord. During the early years, B.T.C. was known as "Shouting Bethel". In 1928, Rev. Benjamin Gordon became pastor and served more than 20 years. In 1959, Dr. Lemuel Revels became pastor and served over 25 years. During his pastoralship We moved to our present location 2517 South Alston Ave. on April 1976. After Dr. Revels death 3 ministers in succession served as pastors, Rev.H. Jackson 1986, Rev. H.V. Williams 1989, Rev. H. Lee 1991. Now we are blessed to have Elder O.T. Perry as our pastor. He is from Henderson, N.C. He came to us in September 1999. Under his leadership Bethel is growing. We observed our 1st Family and Friends Day July 2000, 1st Women's Conference October 2000, 1st Youth Conference July 2001 The theme was "Only the Strong Will Survive", 1st Men's Conference August 2001 The theme was "Standing on the Promises" and our Food Bank opened in August 2001. Under Elder Perry's direction Bethel is growing spiritually and has added several new members to it's fold and some returned as members. As of 2002, we are in the process of remodeling and renovating the church.
