Greater New Calvary COGIC was founded in 1978 under the leadership of our pastor the Honorable Bishop Wallace Johnson. Bishop Johnson was pastoring Velie COGIC when the Lord directed him to resign as Velie's pastor and start a church in the city of Camden. Afer much prayer and fasting, the Lord gave him the location and name of the church, New Calvary Church of God In Christ. In 1996 the edifice of the New Calvary Church of God In Christ burned. This was during the time when several churches in America were being burned. Bishop Johnson quickly gather his flock togather and reassured them that what the devil had meant for their bad, God meant it for their good. He took on the philosophy of Nehemiah, "Let us rise up and build", and that is exactly what he did. On the fourth Sunday of June in 1999 we entered the Greater New Calvary Church of God in Christ and since that time our membership has grown to 500 plus members.
