Nuns, Monks (both lay and clerical)

The Benedictine Congregation of Saint Romuald (Ecumenical)is based loosly on the Roman Catholic Camaldolese Benedictine ideal. The Camaldolese branch was established through the reforming efforts of Saint Romuald (c.950-1027). His reform sought to revitalise the best of the communal and solitary diemensions of the monastic life,of themonastic life, whilst also providing a place for missionary monks & nuns. We are unique in that we make our home-houses, flats, bed-sitters our monastic enclosure, as best we can. We celebrate all the monastic disciplines in our enclosure whilst most of us will have a living to earn, we are guided during our "novitiate" year by an experienced Benedictine, who is well used to distance teaching and spiritual direction. Choir Nuns & Monks say the full "Divine Office" and assist or Celebrate the Eucharist as frequently as possible. As a Romauldian Benedictine you will progress in your religious life through the normal contemplative stages i.e.Novitiate, Simple Profession, Final Profession (Final Vows). Please write to Father Abbot who will send you details. ***************** "Listen, my son, to your master's precepts, and incline the ear of your heart.Receive willingly and carry out effectively your loving father's advice, that by labour and obedience you may return to Him from whom you have departed by the sloth of disobedience." (The Rule of Saint Benedict. The prologue)

Oblates of Saint Benedict

Like all Benedictine Congregations we have "Oblates". These are people who for many reasons, cannot lead the full Benedictine life but would neverthless like to lead a "the Benedictine Religious life" as best they are able.
