ABOUT OUR PASTOR

Rev. Stephen Willis Walker was born on June 24, 1969 at Menorah Medical Center, here in Kansas City, Missouri. He reared by his grandparents and his lovely mother. He is lifelong resident of Kansas City, Missouri. He has two uncles a cousin and a grandfather that have pastored and are presntly pastoring in this city. His home church and pastor is Pentecostal Church Of God In Christ, where Bishop Daniel M. Jordan is his pastor. Rev. Walker is single with no children and has never been married, however, his mother is hoping that will change soon! She oftens jokes that she is getting old, and she would like to see him marry. Rev. Walker often talks about his mother Katherine Irene Armster-Walker and his late grandmother Mrs. Margaret Armster how he loves them so dearly. He grew up at the Emanuel Baptist Church located at 920 Olive Street under the leadership of Dr. W. H. White, Sr. whom he was named after. He got his start in the ministry at the age of 9 years old. In the children church under the leadership of Sis. Doche Trotter-Pettus, he was inspired to play the piano. He took lessons from Giovonni Johnson from St. Louis, Mo. after he moves back to St. Louis, he began under Sherman Johnson. He has served as organist for many churches here in Kansas City, Missouri. Metropolitan Spiritual Church of Christ, Bethel Baptist Church, Bowers Memorial C.M.E. Church, Gregg Tabernacle A.M.E. Church, just to name a few. He is currently serving as organist for L. A. Jones Funeral Home, which he has been employed for the last 17 years. He has a love as a radio DJ and has been employed for many radio stations including K-107, 1090am KEXS Southern Gospel radio, KKLO 1410am, and is currently employed for a local radio station here in Kansas City. This is something that he loves to do. Rev. Walker has served as pastor of Bibleway Deliverance Church which was located at 818 Newton Street, and at the time that he came to us he was Interim Pastor at another church. In November of 1999 our church needed a pastor, Rev. Walker was brought to our attention, the church was without a place to worship. The church met in the homes of the members until a temperary building was found on 11th Street in Kansas City, Kansas, then the Lord saw fit to move the church to 3416 E. 27th Street in Kansas City, Missouri (our present location) on May 29th 2001. We are presently outgrowing our present location, and we are working on a bigger building. Rev. Walker has been pastor going on three years and the church has come a long way under his administration. We have been a given a fresh start by the Lord. There is unity amoung the people, and we as a church have a mind to work. We are currently working on a five year plan to make our church a church that is making an "impact" and not just an "impression". We are currently working on buying up homes for our church, opening a store for our church, helping people with low income housing, and other projects for the youth. It is our prayer that God will continue to guide Pastor Walker as he guides us through this journey. It is our prayer that the Lord will give us many more years with our pastor. It is Pastor's prayer that the Lord will continue to give him a pastor's heart (a burden for souls)so that he can lead us in the 21st Century.
