NEW BETHEL CATHEDRAL MISSION STATEMENT
The mission of the New Bethel Cathedral Ministries is a commitment of
dedication in sharing the message of God's love to all, by reflecting the life and ministry of Jesus Christ, who not only taught concerning the kingdom of God, but also showed in action how much God loves people. New Bethel is committed to meeting the physical and spiritual needs in the lives of all God's people regardless of race, age, disability or economic background.
The main focus of our mission is souls. We are here to lead souls to Christ and nourish them in the word of God. We will endeavor to fulfill this great commission by clothing the naked, housing the homeless, feeding the hungry, healing the sick, bridging the generation gap between our youth and seniors, promoting the family, being a training ground and launching pad for ministers of the gospel of Christ, and by helping those--not only inside, but outside as well. We are God's instruments in providing an atmosphere where the transforming grace-filled experience of God's love abounds in all that we do serving others.
The New Bethel Cathedral Ministry is fulfilling the great commission of Jesus Christ through the many facets of our ministry. Some of these programs include our feeding the hungry program and food and clothing drives. We are bridging the generation gap between the youth and seniors through our monthly services and monthly outreach ministry to a local nursing home. We also have a strong education department where the word of God is taught in many new and exciting variations enabling all to receive and understand the word of God, and apply it to the daily functions of life. Our education department has also expanded to as a launching pad for emerging ministers of the gospel, leaders and other laborers providing quality academic biblical training, ministry and spiritual life training.
Other facets of our ministry include the theater and arts department, music department, and Heaven Special Children Ministry, which provides encouragement and assistance to disabled children and their parents. These ministries reach out to the community to impact the lives of God's people where they live, work, and worship. We provide these and other outreaches to assist and give back to our communities, and to help build our communities.
Our mission can be summarized by stating that we are a church family that demonstrates our love, which is inspired by God, to all people in every walk of life with the unconditional love of Jesus Christ.

ABOUT OUR PASTOR Superintendent Melvin L. Austin is a giant among spiritual leaders. He is a Holy Ghost filled pastor with a vision from God. Superintendent Austin is a visionary who believes in building up God's people and God's kingdom. Superintendent Austin committed his life to Christ under the witness of Crusade for Christ Ministries. He has been saying "yes" to God every since that day. After faithfully serving under his pastor, God promoted Superintendent Austin to Pastor. He has been pastoring the New Bethel Ministry since 1983. God then promoted him to serve as Superintendent of the Virginia Beach District The ministry that God has given Superintendent Austin has been and is a blessing. He is an anointed man of God, who teaches and preaches under the anointing, and God confirms the word with signs and wonders. Wherever God sends him, souls are saved, and miracles happen. Superintendent Austin resides in Norfolk, VA. Superintendent Austin is married to Missionary Claudine Austin. They have been married for over 25 years of marriage. The Lord truly blessed Superintendent Austin with Missionary Austin. She stands beside him--encouraging, motivating, praying, and believing God with him. Superintendent and Missionary Austin have been blessed with two lovely daughters, Chandra and Courtney, and a grandson, Cordell who take very active parts in the ministry that God has given to him. Superintendent Austin believes in building families, being a bridger of the generation gap between the young and the aged, being a motivator of children, training leaders, loving all people, and being an expander of the kingdom of God. Superintendent Austin's main focus is "souls." He has a vision to clothe the naked, feed the hungry, heal the sick, and deliver God's people. He is about leading people to and nourishing them in Jesus Christ. Superintendent Austin gives all the glory to God for the great things He has done in his life. "Come Share The Vision"
