The members of Saint Luke Christian Methodist Episcopal Church are its most valuable resource and strength. We are the primary means by which Saint Luke's objectives will be achieved. The major mission of Saint Luke CME Church is to carry out the "Great Commission" of Jesus, which is to make disciples and baptize them in the name of the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. As disciples, it is our responsibility to carry out our priestly functions by providing care and compassion for the hungry, the anxious and marginalized persons of the world. Saint Luke CME Church, an urban community-based Zion, is a part of the Nashville-Clarksville District of the East Tennessee Annual Conference of the First Episcopal District of the Christian Methodist Episcopal Church. This unique combination of characteristics helps propel the Church into carrying out its many programs. In carrying out its diverse ministries, the Church serves the North Nashville community, the city of Nashville and Middle Tennessee, the state of Tennessee, the nation and the world. At Saint Luke, we are committed to improving the lives of all people. We attach great importance to serving the underserved populations in our communities. As boundaries and barriers in our communities disappear, Saint Luke is committed to exploring opportunities that will enhance the standard of living for persons in the communities that it serves. To take these commitments to higher levels, our members are involved in activities related to the total person. These commitments will strengthen and proactively serve the membership and the community. We will reaffirm and maintain strong commitments to Christian Discipleship and ensure that the Church programs are focused and committed to serving human kind. We are interested in forming strong and mutually beneficial partnerships with individuals and organizations with the same goals and percepts of Jesus our Lord. Submitted by the Official Board of St. Luke CME Church and approved by the Church Conference on February 7, 2000, Rev. Ronald Powe, Pastor.
