CHURCH HISTORY

The church was born in the year 7th of January 1996 in a small village near to the bible college I attended. Named " Praise and Worship Bible Ministry." , our church met in my house(Parlour)as myself being the Overseer, my wife and children with other nine converts; as the foundation members.

Since we had little money we continued to worship and my home. The churches vision is to win souls into the Kingdom of God, Preaching the good News of Jesus Christ to both the reached and unreached. (Mark. 16:15-18) God blessed our efforts and in 6 months we grew to 40 members.

We soon outgrew my home and moved to a rented apartment at No. 14 Aboidun Ibidapo Street. The Holy Spirit was moving mightily in acts of healing and deliverance. Many converts formerly worshipped idols and I'm proud to say that out of the number of Herbalists (i.e. witchdoctors) is now a Pastor after completing his courses at a bible college I sent him to.

Along with the Lord's blessing we have had many trials. In August of 1998, the roof of our building in the process of being replaced but was delayed due to a delay of promised funds. In the interim, we were severely rained on causing much damage including the bibles of many members. The very next Sunday our membership dropped from 120 to 60 only. Many were afraid of the financial committment required to fix our facility. They enjoyed the spiritual blessings of the church but were reluctant to help shoulder the financial burden. I raised the needed money in 3 weeks and it was a joy to see the church reroofed and refurbished. People once again started to come and worship with us.

But after every victory, Satan will prepare to attack. Within a year we had conflict with the landlord of our building. He himself was a pastor and allowed the devil to fill him with jealousy. He wanted us out of the building so that his church could use it. I begged him for some time to find another place but with 2 days of speaking with him, our church sign was removed. The cloud of financial need soon loomed over our church again, causing some to depart from us. All seemed hopeless and it looked like we couldn't break the cycle.

But God has better for us and turned our setback into a stepping stone. I finally found a much larger place to worship, our present location at No. 21 Epetedo Street. Yet this is still a rented facility and we're looking to God to enable us to find a permanent home for Praise and Worship Bible Ministries COGIC. Today we and our 80 member congregation are happy in our new home but who knows what will happen tomorrow??
We leave it in God's hands.

STATEMENT OF FAITH

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired and infallible Word of God.
We believe that there is One God, eternally existent in three Persons:
God the Father, God the Son and God the Holy Spirit.

2. We believe in the Blessed Hope, which is the rapture,
of the Church of God which is in Christ, at His return.

3. We believe that the only means of being cleansed from sin is through repentence:
faith in the precious Blood of Jesus Christ and being baptized in water.
We believe that regeneration by the Holy Ghost is absolutely essential for
personal salvation.

4. We believe that the redemptive work of Christ on the cross provides healing for
the human body in answer to believing in prayer.

5. We believe that the baptism in the Holy Ghost, according to Acts 2:4 is given
to believers who ask for it.

6. We believe in the Sanctifying power of the Holy Spirit, by Whose indwelling,
the Christian is enabled to live a Holy and Separated life in this present world.

CHURCH ACTIVITIES

We hold in each year an outside crusade to mark the Church Anniversary with Seminars and Conferences. This comes up in between the months of January - March. We mark the Church Children day yearly with Seminars to reach out to others also. This comes up in the month of December.
LOCATION: The Church is now in a more spacious rented apartment not in my house again, but at the mentioned address with its Email address. We have council of Elders, Deacons that sees to the affairs of the Church.
COMMITTEE FOR THE LESS PRIVILEGED: There is a committee that sees to the welfare of the less privileged e.g the motherless children, beggars, disable ones. This Committee collects offering, task themselves and make provision for them. The Committee still solicit help from other well meaning group of people or organisation to help us meet the needs of the less privilege ones. The Church is growing with sound Doctrine and Teachings.
CHURCH NEEDS: The Church needs a permanent site of its own to build. we lose members each time we change location due to greedy landlords. The location we are now is becoming too small for us. The Church being known for its prophetic and deliverance needs Buses to help our members who come from about 50 kilometres to worship and to use for outside Evangelism, organising crusades in Rural areas. Diesel generators to escape from frequent light failures, computers video recorders.
The Church will appreciate any group of person or individual that can assist us uplift the work of God.
