"ASCENSION BY EXTENSION"-- Ascending to God by Extending to Man. Our Lord and Saviour emphasized two great commandments as He ministered to one of the scribes in Mark 12:29-31. When asked concerning the importance of the commandments,Jesus responed, (v.29)"The first of all commandments is,(Shema Deut. 6:4) Hear, O Israel; The Lord our God is one Lord: (v.30)And thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind, and with all thy strength:this is the first commandment. (v.31) And the second is like (equal unto), namely this, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself. There is none other commandment greater than these. Considering the admonishment of Christ to our ministry to God, our neighbours and self and their "inter-connectivity"we adopt the timely divine motto: "Ascension by Extension," which means we are ascending (drawing closer in relationship and fellowship) to God as we are extending (ministering holistically Luke 4:18-19)to man(humanity).
