History of the Church

Forty-three years ago the unfolding of Mother Myrtle D. Francis' vision began in the formation of the Royal Assembly Church of the Living God. This work began in Oakland Park, Florida. God blessed over the years in the expansion of this ministry and from it in December 1980, was birthed and nurtured the Universal Pentecostal Church (UPC). God came no shorter than his promise, and for their diligence in kingdom building, God continually blessed and added to the church. In 1982, the fruit of this ministry moved into it's present edifice in Hollywood, Florida. The next few years were spent on adding souls to the kingdom and community outreach. As Elijah had passed the mantle on to Elisha and even David had passed the charge on to his son Solomon, prior to her demise, Mother Francis passed on the charge for ministry and her pastoral mantle. The person to whom this charge was given was none other than God's anointed and chosen vessel, Bishop Betty Francis. Bishop Francis has taken up that mantle and diligently, with God's help, achieved some of those goals that Mother Francis did not live to see. In 1990, UPC affiliated itself with the progressive ministry of the Beth-El Churches of Christ, Inc. under the apt and capable leadership of the late Apostle Robert Evans, Jr. In 1996, under the leading of the Holy Spirit, Bishop Francis was given the name "Cathedral of Praise Worship Center", for God allowed her to know, that this house would be filled with praise & worship. From the birth of this ministry until the present time, one of the most prevalent biblical precepts that has been taught and instilled in the minds and hearts of the members is that found in the scripture; "I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that ye present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable unto God, which is your reasonable service." Romans 12:1
