Who We Are

The Alpha and Omega Anglican Church is located in Luverne, Alabama, fifty miles south of the state capital of Montgomery. We are in the Gulf Coast Diocese of the Communion of Evangelical Episcopal Churches, The Rt. Rev. Frank Rankin, Presiding Bishop. Our Rector is the Bishop Coadjutor of the diocese. Our communion is one of the newest Anglican communions which is a leader in the Convergence Movement. This stresses the "Three Streams" of the Early Church, the evangelical, the charismatic, and the liturgical/ sacramental. We celebrate the Holy Eucharist each Sunday morning according to Rite I of the Anglican Book of Common Prayer. We believe in the Apostles and Nicene Creeds, and in the 39 Articles of Religion. We have a great respect for the Word of God and the sacraments of the One Holy Apostolic and Catholic Church. +Bishop Simmons is in the process of starting an Anglican Bishop's School for the Reading for Holy Orders, as well as a residential monastery. Anyone interested in either please email him.

What is Our Mission

Our mission is to establish a strong evangelical, charismatic, and liturgical/sacramental community of faith under the spiritual guiddance of an Anglican bishop who has been consecrated according to the principles of Apostolic Succession. We have a vision from the Lord to establish seven residential colleges: Holy Spirit College (A Bishop's School for the Reading of Anglican Holy Orders); St. Paul's College (to train apostolic priests); Elijah College (to train prophetic priests); St. Philip's College (to train evangelists); St. Timothy's College (to train pastors); Sacred Word College (to train teachers); and Jesus College (a graduate school for advanced research degrees). We also plan to establish residential monasteries for monks and nuns. We plan to plant churches in our diocese in Alabama.
