Nouthetic Counseling
"NOUTHETIC" is derived from a Greek work meaning -
"To confront with the Word of God for the purpose of change."
Nouthetic Counselers, regardless of the specific denomination of their faith, believe in the divine sovernity of the Almighty God in the Holy Bible. Our presupposition is that the Scriptures are inspired Word of God and it is the final authority.
The sovereign God created the heavens and the earth and the fullness thereof. He created mankind, male and female, and then breathed the breath of life into us. We also came with an instruction manual, the Holy Bible.
Every answer to life's problems are found in the Holy Bible. It is a matter of us getting into it and finding the information. Nouthetic Counselors not only have been trained in counseling situations, but are astute Bible students, searching out the scriptures for answers to todays issues.
The answers for today's issues are there.
MY HEALING
I have chosen to become a Nouthetic Counselor because when I hit the lowest point in my life and had no choice but to spend five years in and out of a Christian Psychiatric Hospital, God met me there. For every unhealthy emotion I had, which led to spiritual disobedience, God's Word had the antedote.
Being diagnosed with BiPolar Disorder, to say the least, "rocked my boat." According to my doctor's, my five year healing was quite unusual. They expressed how most people in the same place I was emotionally, took ten to twelve years to get to the same place I was in five. My God has to get the glory for that.
As people began to ask me "how" I got my healing and I began to put thought into the whole picture of those five years, this is what God showed me.
God made is a triune being, "Spirit," "Soul," and "Body." For us to be "whole," all three parts have to be well. In short, what happened to me was, as my spirit man and emotional man became healthier the body neeed less medication.
I can honestly say, I am whole...not perfect...but to a very good place of functioning.
I am 49 1/2 years old, been enrolled in Victory Bible College for three years now, majoring in "Nouthetic Counseling."
I am anxious to help other Christian's that find themselves in the same spot I was in, or even better, keep them from going there.
