A Church With a Vision and moving for the Lord
Our Church Background:
Sweet Beulah Church of God In Christ of Laurel, Inc., was started as a mission in a house in the 60's under the leadership of Elder W.D. Hind. In 1965 under the leadership of Bishop Hollis Musgrove a vision was gave by God to this young man to build the Lord a house. He founded and named the church Laurel # 3 Church Of God In Christ. From 1965-1996 numerous of key leaders of the Church Of God In Christ have served as pastor. Namely Elder A.R. Magee, Elder Richard Keys, Elder David Simmons, Elder Hardy, Elder Bobby Gray, and Minister Tommy Moore as Overseer. Sweet Beulah is on the move again; we have been through many changes. On February 16, 1996 God blessed this little white church on the corner of Pearson and Anderson by sending his servant Elder Danny Rico McLaurin of Pinola, Mississippi. Since Elder McLaurin has been pastor, there have been numerous souls blessed and added to the church. Pastor McLaurin and his wife has been a great asset to this ministry as well as the community. The pastor, members, and friends of the church came together and started the renovation. Even though we have come a long way, yet there's still a journey ahead. Surely we are "A Church with a Vision". In 1997, God place on Pastor McLaurin heart to have a community outreach day. This day included free food, door prizes, inspiration speaker, and singing. This is our fourth year; during these events we have had 1500 lives changed. Our outreach motto is "Therefore with loving-kindness have I drawn thee". The purpose of this event is to reach those that are confused, hurt, depressed, drug addicts, victims of molestation, diseased and single parents. Other programs we have are as following:
· Sunday School aim is to train and enlighten children and adults in scriptural understanding and doctrines of the Church.
· Y.P.W.W. Is a young people's organization. It is call the Young People Willing Workers.
· Y.W.C.C. is open to young women age 19 and older to promote spiritual growth as well as to train the young women in harmony and give service in the homes, and church, and community.
· Y.M.C.C. it is called the Young Men Christian Council, (men age 19 and older).
· Sunshine Band (age 5-12) is designed for train up a child in the way he/she should go and when is old he will not depart from it.
· Fatherhood Initiative Program aim is to offer parenting skill; job readiness, mentoring, and financial budgeting courses are offer weekly once enrolled.
