Elder Melvin J. Smith, Sr., Attorney at Law is the eighth of eleven children of the late Mr. & Mrs. Willie Smith. Elder Smith was raised as a member of Bostick Temple Church of God in Christ where he was saved and filled with the Holy Ghost at the age of eleven. From a child Elder Smith was very faithful and active in church. He was a member of the Sunday School & Y.P.W.W. Departments, Sunshine Band, Purity Class, and The Sanders Ensembles Choir. Elder Smith was a member of the Pastor's Aide, President of the Youth Department, Chairman of the Trustee Board and an Associate Elder. Elder Smith is an anointed Holy Ghost filled man of God who preaches the word of God with power and authority. Elder Melvin Smith, Attorney at Law is active on the Jurisdictional level as Chief Financial Officer and legal advisor to Bishop R. J. Ward. Elder Smith has assisted the National Church by serving as lead Attorney during the National Constitutional Convention in 2001. He also assisted in the writing of the Judiciary Board of the Church of God in Christ. Elder Melvin J. Smith, has often rendered legal advice to National Officials of our church. Elder Melvin J. Smith was educated in the St. Louis Public Schools and is a graduate of Solden High School. He attended The University of Missouri Columbia where he earned a Bachelors of Science in Education and a minor of Political Science. Elder Smith earned a Juris Doctors Degree in Law from the University of Missouri Columbia. He is the founder and owner of The Law Firm of Melvin J. Smith and Associates. His Law Practice is in the areas of Personal Injury, Medical Malpractice, and Civil Litigation. Elder Smith also operates a successful Real-estate Investment Company with his wife. In 1996 Elder Melvin J. Smith was united in holy matrimony to the beautiful Miss Jacqueline D. Edwards. Sis Jacqueline Smith has been by his side praying and supporting him all the way. On January 27, 2000 God blessed this union with a delightful set of twins, Melvin James, Jr. and Carrington Denise. Elder Melvin J. Smith is truly a man of God. We know that God has many great things in store for Elder Melvin J. Smith, Sr. and the Nazareth Temple Church of God in Christ. We ask that you will pray that the Lord will continue to guide and strengthen Elder Smith as he takes on this great work that the Lord has bestowed upon him.
