History Of Parish

On October 25, 1992, with permission from the Late + Bishop Joseph Patrick Naperano, the first Mass was celebrated for the Community of Our Lady, Queen of Peace. Since then, the Pastor has remained the same, and the community has reached out to many who have sought and island of peace & prayer in the midst of downtown Hamilton, Ontario. In May of 1994, Mrs. Maria Roque donated the Shrine Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, and the Parish name was changed to draw attention to this Shrine statue. In July of 1995, the Pastor moved to the present address, and although it is a little more difficult for some members to attend, parish life continues. On Saturday October 23, 1997 the Shrine was honored by a visit from His Excellency Bishop David Thomson, on the occasion of the Pastors 5th Anniversay of Ordination. At that Mass, with Fr. David as Principal Celebrant, Fr, David renewed his vows of obediance before both the Shrine Community and Bishop Thomson. Fr. David remains Pastor of The Shrine Chapel of Our Lady, Queen of Peace, and contuies to function fully, offering a full sacramental church as well as being called a welcoming community. If you beleive in Christ, regardless of orientation, or race or anything. In Christ's teachings, there is no dis-union or bigotry, no one is segragated, except by sin, and that is forgivable by Christ, Our Lord. Our Community continues to grow, but there are many who are still searching for a Church Family of Tradition. We at the Shrine Chapel offer such a place, where the Mass is not rushed or pushed, but each word is said as a direct conversation with the Most Divine Trinity, and offered as the Divine Sacrament should be offered, in a prayerful & meditative mode, and although we might not be a "large" community, we trully beleive that "the family that prays together, stays together. We hope that you will join us for Holy Mass or if you need prayer, that you will contact us. We are all Servants, serving Christ, by serving each other. We at the Shrine are here to serve & pray for each other and for Peace. Following each Mass we as Community offer this Prayer. Even if you cannot be here with us, then I hope you will say this prayer in silent union with us. Father...I abandon myself into your hands. Do with me what you will. What you do, I thank you. I am read for all, I accept all. Let only your will be done in me, and in all your creatures, I ask no more than this O Lord. Into your hand, I commend my Soul, with all the love of my heart. For I so need to give myself, Surrender myself into your hands, with boundless confidance; For You are my Father. Amen Pax Et Dominus --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Faith And Love In Christ Through Mary

The motto written above, is the motto of our parish. With the faith and teachings of the Holy Catholic Church, and the Sacred Word of Holy Scripture, our parish stives for the joys of whatever God has in store for us as Community of Prayer. Devotion to Mary, is a much questioned affair, but as Pastor, I have had the joys of receiving many blessings through her intercession. In our Chapel we proudly display the Shrine Statue of Our Lady of Fatima, also known as OurLady, Queen of Peace. A candle burns before her image day and night, and flowers adorn her corner when placed their by a devoted petitioner. Our Holy Hour on Saturday's are based on Mary, and we use the meditations of the churches greatest teachers to instruct us on "the Theology of Mary". We welcome you to come celebrate with us and join us as we give homage to the Mother of Christ, Mary, Queen of Peace.
