Our motto "The Church in the heart of the city, with the city at heart" not only speaks to our geographical location in the city of Harrisburg, but also, to our geniune concern for the people, which make up this city. It is our beliefs that everything and everyone belongs to God. We know there are those who are not aware of God's providential care, so we who claim salvation, consider it our first mission to make the word of God come alive through our lives, so those who don't know Him, might see Him in us. This we believe will occur when our lives manifest that which we preach, "For God so loved the world that he gave....", and when He gave, it was His best, thus we give our lives as a living sacrifice. God's desire is that we all might live!
It is our belief that every Christian is gifted to serve God and that every believer is expected to serve. Every believer must be given opportunities to serve God.
An understanding of these ideas helps a church to begin to develop a theology of service for its members. It is our responsibilty to help shape the lives of those whom God places in our care. Throughout the scriptures God instructs and challenges us to be good servants. In Matthew 20:26-28 (NASB) Jesus teaches, "But whosoever wishes to become great among you, shall be your servant, and whosoever wishes to be first among you shall be your slave, just as the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life ransom for many."
Christian Education is an important element in the church's life. When Jesus called His disciples the first thing He did was "...to teach them."
