St. John's parish community is a community of Christians united with,
the Bishop of Hexham and Newcastle , Bishop Ambrose, who in turn is united with Pope John Paul who unites us with similar communities throughout the world, which gives us the name Catholic, which means universal. We have chosen to unite ourselves with the Catholic Church throughout the world in its liturgical worship,in its teaching, its tradition and practice of the gospel. Our mission is to all the people in our part of the town of Billingham.
in our parish we have a thriving Primary School of 200 children. We also serve the needs of Seafarers entering our local port of North Tees.
St. John's Catholic Church is 7km from the Port. When seafarers enter North Tees we emphasise that they are part of our parish during their stay. Our parish welcomes any seafarer. We pray for all seafarers and each week in the church Mass is offered for them and their families. Our primary comcern is for the spiritual wellbeing of seafarers. The ships are visited by a full time ship visitor and volunteers who offer the opportunity to arrange Mass for seafarers either on their ship of here in the parish. Our ship visitor Tony can be contacted on 0403781546. Fr. David on the parish telephone number,or pager 04325558587.
