Parish Information

Queen of Peace Catholic Church had humble beginnings: from Mass in private homes, to Mass in a house chapel (330 Moore Street), to Mass and the Sacraments in the present church building on Zimmerman Road. The parish began as a mission of Our Lady, Help of Christians, Lykens, became a mission of St. Matthew, Dauphin, and in 1985 was named an independent parish of the Roman Catholic Diocese of Harrisburg with Rev. William R. Craig, O.Praem., as the founding pastor. For over 25 years Queen of Peace was served by the Canons Regular of Premontre (Norbertine Fathers) of the communities of Daylesford Abbey and Immaculate Conception Priory. In 2003 with the appointment of Rev. Darius G.C. Moss pastoral responsibility for the parish was placed into the hands of the Diocesan Presbyterate of the Church in Harrisburg. Although its members are scattered throughout the Townships of Halifax, Upper Paxton, Mifflin, and Lower Mahoney they gather around the Table of the Lord every Sunday so that the Banquet of the Eucharistic Sacrifice can nourish and strengthen each man, woman, and child to go forth into their communities and proclaim by their words and deeds the peace of God's kingdom in their homes, schools, and places of work. Over the years Queen of Peace has grown to an active, viable parish in northen Dauphin County. A strong faith in Jesus Christ, the Prince of Peace, and trust in the intercession of his Virgin Mother Mary has been the never-failing source of hope for the parishioners and clergy.
