Where in the world is Eldred?
Eldred is a small farming community nestled in among the bluffs of
the Illinois River on the western edge of Illinois. We are 60 miles
north of the St. Louis/Alton/Metro East area. If you are familiar
with the Great River Road and Marquette Park, you are not far
from Eldred. Just continue north on Route 100 (the Great River
Road). Route 100 joins Route 16 west towards Hardin, IL. Two
miles past this junction you will see a sign turning right onto the
Eldred Blacktop Road. Just follow this north for 11 miles and
you are in one of the prettiest spots in the midwest.
Our church is affiliated with the American Baptist Churches-USA
and is in the Great Rivers Region.
If you are visiting this portion of our nation we would enjoy having
you and your family worship the Lord with us on Sunday.
What we believe and preach
We believe that God is in charge of all life on earth. All things are
from Him and all things work on His timetable.
We believe that His Son, Jesus Christ, came to earth and lived
as God in the flesh. He died on the cross of Calvary for our sins
and rose three days later to gain the victory over satan and death.
We believe in the Holy Spirit which is the presence of God in this
world. He is the One who comforts, leads, and convicts believers
as well as non-believers in this world.
We believe that when an individual reaches an age of understanding as to what Jesus did for them, that person can invite Jesus to live
in their heart and be their Savior. They can be forgiven of their
sins (the bad things that they do).
We do not get hung up on denominations, Bible versions, dress
codes, or politics. We preach Jesus Christ, crucified, now alive,
and coming again to take us home.
