The Mt. Hill Fellowship Community Church is a Word-centered ministry designed to evangelize the lost at any cost, equip and empower the people of God, and provide holistic ministry to our community as well as the world. Seeking to minister to the total person, we are a teaching, preaching, reaching ministry determined to impact the world in which we live with the uncompromising message of Jesus Christ. Committed to the Spirit of Excellence, we are striving to become an oasis of hope within the Aiken Community by promoting and providing eduction, awareness, as well as financial independence. We believe that God must be worshiped in spirit and in truth. We embrace freedom in worship because the Word says, "Where the Spirit of the Lord is there is liberty." Our foundation is the Word of God and we believe it in its entirety. We believe we can do what it says we can do, be who it says we can be, and have what it says we can have.
One of the joys I celebrate as pastor of a small aspiring congregation is the sounds and sights of nature that I encounter enroute to the church. I have noticed over the past several years the cycle of events that take place with the cultivation of the grapevines, as the workers nurture the vines for producing. The most interesting time to me is the winter season...when the vines look useless. There are no grapes or leaves on the vines. They have been pruned and appear to be dead and unproductive. Then there is a season when I notice the vines are growing; fresh leaves appear and the vines overflow with grapes. Nature has taken the grapevine through the full cycle of life, death and resurrection. The other morning, a great revelation came to me. There are times when everything you attempt to do will seem to go wrong. Regardless of your faith and consecration, adversity will come. You can't pray away God's season! The Lord has a purpose for not allowing you to be fruitful all the time. You need seasons of struggle as well as seasons of success. These times destroy pride in our own ability and increase our dependency upon God. The apostle Paul says these light afflictions are only for a moment. Because you can't change it...doesn't mean you can't survive it!...outlive it! Be like the grapevine. In winter it silently refurbishes its strength, preparing for the next season of fruitfulness... If you look back on your accomplishments, you'll notice that they are seasonal. There are seasons of sunshine as well as rain. Each season has its own purpose. As a child, my father constantly reminded me to "Never make permanent decisions based on temporary circumstances." Again Paul says, "The things which are seen are temporary; but the things which are not seen are eternal." (2 Cor. 4:18) The word "temporary" means "subject to change"! Rejoice, it's not always going to be this way! Just hold steady! Learn to enjoy where you are, while you're waiting to get to where you want to be. You'll spend more time in life waiting than you will receiving, and when you receive what you're waiting for now---you'll beging waiting for something else. That's life. If you don't learn to "wait well" you'll live with endless frustration. Waiting well is what will deliver your dream. Listen,"...in due season we shall reap, if we faint not" (Gal. 6:9). Due season is when God knows you'r ready, not when you think you are. Here we are blessed to have made it into a new year. For most of us, it is actually a surprise that we are here and doing quite well. We have been given another chance. We just might as well be real about it. Somewhere along the way we've failed; we didn't produce; life at times seem to have been at a standstill. We all messed up in the area where we were assigned: with our children, families, jobs, ministries and other commitments; but every day above ground is a good day and every day is a chance to start over again. You and I have been assigned to a great work for the Master and He has given us another chance to perform it. Rev. Joseph S. Harrison, Jr.
