The Beginning Of Helping Hands Ministries A.F.

In 1973, while mediating on the goodnees of the Lord, Pastor Roger Tatuem was inspired by the Lord to lay his hands on a blank piece of paper. God then instructed him to trace the shape of his hand on that paper. He then told him to put a scar in the middle of the hand. He then instructed him to write the words "HELPING HANDS" through the hand. He then said that Pastor Tatuem would call the work that he would be doing for Him, "HELPING HANDS".

During the next two years and two months God began to establish the work He called Pastor Tatuem to do...... "whom He called, He justified and whom He justified He then glorified." Romans 8:30. He confirmed His words with signs and wonders and miracles. Pastor Tatuem began serving the Lord at the First Pentecostal Tabernacle Church under he leadership of Bishop Huey L. Harris. This great man of God along with his wife, Mother Lou Ann Harris and family were very helpful in teaching Pastor Tatuem the ways of the Lord. They are loved dearly for their support and they are much apart of Helping Hands Ministries.

What The Lord Has Wrought

In 1976, Pastor Tatuem married Miriam L. Harris, daughter of Bishop Huey and Mother Lou Ann Harris. To this union were added Theoron and Jewel Tatuem.

At a Holy Ghost camp meeting in 1978, the Lord spoke a prophetic message to Pastor Tatuem.. He told him that he would go into the prisons and continue teaching and preaching the good news of the Gospel to those who were incarcerated. The Helping Hands Ministries outreach Team continues to serve at the Maryland State Penitentiary. Minister Orlando Hamilton is the minister God is using to teach the word of the Lord. He began pastoring in 1994, and he was ordained Elder in May 1995. God is raising up powerful and anointed leaders within the institution under Elder Hamilton's pastorship.

In 1986, the Lord sent the Helping Hands Ministries Outreach Team into the streets in the community to proclaim the power of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. Many who were addicted to cocaine and other drugs have been delivered and are drug free today. On June 2nd 1991, Helping Hands Ministries conducted its first service as an established Church in the formal Asbury United Methodist Church which we rented until Sept. 1998. Since our doors opened in 1991, many wonderful things have taken place. The Lord has blessed us with His divine presence as we worship him in spirit and in truth. The spirit of the Lord has moved on our Co-Pastor, Evangelist Miriam Tatuem, blessing her with the ability to play the piano. She is now Minister of Music teaching and leading our praise and worship services. She graciously leads us into the awesome presence of the Lord. She was ordained in 1997. Helping Hands Ministries has been very successful in impacting the community with Help Groups. These groups which now includes our newly formed "Drug Task Force" meet in various areas throughout the county. The groups main focus is leading people to Christ by teaching them to put their trust in the Lord and to help them put all their focuses in life on the Lord. Through the help group meetings, many have been set free from drug and alcohol addictions, and healed from sickness. Many have found solutions for problems, and have been delivered from the power of the devil by the word of the living God. Helping Hands Ministries is a teaching and training ministry for the edifying of the body of Christ. The Bible training Institute was founded in April 1994, with classes commencing that same year. Our next semester will begin in the fall of 1998. The Lord has blessed Pastor and Co-Pastor Tatuem to travel to Pastoral conferences throughout the body of Christ, bringing back to the Helping Hands family golden nuggets of truth from other anointed ministries. We have also instituted a "Children's Church" during Sunday Morning Services to teach our young children the word of God. "Let the little children come to me, and do not forbid them, for of such is the kingdom of God." Mark 10:14 God is adding to the Church as he sees fit. Because of His blessings of increase, we could no longer accommodate our congregation at the Asbury Church. But God in His foresight and awesome ability has placed us at the Aberdeen High School Auditorium for Sunday Morning Services. We began Sunday Services at the High School in April 1996. The mighty movement of God's Spirit has enabled us to not only have Sunday morning services at the High School, but in addition, New Comers Christian Education Classes, Intercessory Prayer, and Sunday School Classes. The Helping Hands family has continuously grown during this time. Membership since April 1996 has increased tremendously. God has truly provided in abundance.
