In Matthew 5, Jesus is giving us an example of what we should be like as believers. Verse 13 says that we "are the salt of the earth." In other words, we are the seasoning for life. Without Christ, life is bland, or tastless. And we are told that we need to keep our saltiness, or our lives right so that we don't portray a false image of God. He tells us that once salt has lost its saltiness, it is no longer any good, except to be thrown out and trampled by men. Jesus goes on to tell us that we "are the light of the world". The only way for the world to see Jesus is through us. If we don't let His light shine through us, then the world will never know who Jesus is. But He says to "let your light shine before men, that they may see your good deeds and praise your Father in heaven". So, as the Newsboys and Jesus Christ says, "SHINE!" And remember, "Do not conform to this world, but be ye transformed by the renewing of your mind!" Romans 12:2
