Our Mission Statement

We are a Church at the cutting edge of our communities, facing all the issues that affect our world. Each member is committed to addressing those issues in the manner inspired by our Lord, Jesus Christ. None of us stands alone in this. Each of us,together and united, endorses and supports the programs, policies, and faith of our Church. Therefore, we are dedicated to sharing our time, our money and our prayers to the building of the Church and to the development of her membership and programs according to the full image of Christ. Each of us will support the others and participate, to our own ability, in worship, education, and stewardship, in grateful appreciation of what God has already done for us, and in eager expectations of what we will do for others in God's name.

Church History

Old Paramus Reformed Church, one of the early Dutch Reformed churches in the Hackensack Valley of New Jersey, was organized in 1725. It's founding menbers were from pioneer families, predominately Dutch, in the area of present-day Ridgewood, Paramus, Ho-Ho-Kus, Saddle River and adjacent communities.During the Revolutionary War, Old Paramus was a center of military activity. The first church building, the cornerstone of which was laid in 1735, was used as an outpost for units of the American Army throughout the war. It was here that General George Washington made his headquarters a total of ten times during the years 1778-1780. The present house of worship was built in 1800 after a decision by the congregation to demolish the deteriorated 1735 church.Although some modifictions have been made since 1800, the building retains, in general, the architectual integrity of the year in which it was built.
