It is a pleasure to have you visit the Petersburg Church of God
web page. The Petersburg Church of God is a church with a vision -
a vision to help people and to spread the Good News of Jesus Christ!

"The Church That Cares"

We have a mission! The first mission statement of the Church is "The Great Commission." Jesus said as recorded in the Gospel of Matthew:

"Go make disciples of all nations, baptizing them in the Name of the Father, and of the Son, and of the Holy Spirit, teaching them to observe all that I have commanded you."

The second statement is the one proposed by Paul to the Corinthians in I Corinthians 4:1-5

"This is how one should regard us, as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God."

Paul is saying to the Corinthians, this is what I think the Church ought to look like. It is about as tidy and succinct a mission statement as you could ever find. It "sticks to the knitting." All successful businesses stay focused on what they do best -- that is, "stick to the knitting rubric." May we follow suit -- stay focused as to our mission as servants of Christ and stewards of the mysteries of God.
