A Brief Confession of Faith

A Brief Confession of Faith
Faith Community Church
Dallas, Texas

"We are an evangelical, baptistic, reformed, transcultural, transdenominational Bible believing congregation. We worship the sovereign God who is calling people from all walks of life to serve Jesus Christ together in the fellowship of the local assembly."

We believe ...

. · that there is one God who is revealed as Father, Son and Holy Spirit, the Creator and Sovereign of the universe.

· the Scriptures of the Old and New Testaments to be the Word of God, our final authority in all matters of faith and practice.

· Adam and Eve were created sinless but through disobedience to God they fell and as a result all their posterity are born with a sinful nature that manifests itself in acts of transgression. Man is dead spiritually unless he is made alive by the Spirit of God in conjunction with the message of God in Christ Jesus.

· Jesus of Nazareth, son of Mary to be the Christ, who is fully human and fully deity. By his sinless life, vicarious death and bodily resurrection he secured the salvation of sinners. He is in heaven but will return to the earth at the end of the age.

· God created an innumerable company of angels to serve Him but a large number of them rebelled and became His enemies under Satan, the Devil, who is the originator of sin. He and his followers are the enemies of God's people and we fight against them with spiritual weapons.

· in the divine person and work of the Holy Spirit who testifies of Christ Jesus and ministers to and through the church.

· Salvation from sin and its consequences to forgiveness and eternal life is by the grace of God alone through faith in Jesus Christ the only Mediator between God and humankind.

· Sanctification is essentially belonging to God and growing toward spiritual maturity through the continuing activity of the Spirit in conjunction with life in the church.

· Baptism and the Lord's Supper are two gospel ordinances observed by the believers to signify spiritual union with the Lord Jesus Christ in His saving deeds.

· The Church is essentially the household of faith, united to Christ Jesus and indwelt by the Holy Spirit under the Word of God.

. We believe that the proclamation of the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ to all the people groups of the world is an essential ministry of the church. · In the personal, bodily return of Jesus Christ to this earth to establish the eternal kingdom.

· The final destiny of mankind is either hell or heaven and the new earth in the eternal order following the resurrection and the judgement of the last day.

Our Purpose , Mission, Vision & Strategy

Purpose: To demonstrate the infinite value of the living God.

Mission: The mission of Faith Community Church is to make and become authentic worshipers of the living God through Jesus Christ.

Vision: Faith Community Church believes that a life of faith must be a life of worship. We are driven by the truth that our chief duty and the source of our deepest satisfaction is the worship of the living God. While there are both individual and corporate expressions of worship, worship is essentially anything we do that demonstrates our value of God. All people - whether religious or not - worship something. The sad fact in our world is that things such as material goods and human relationships receive our worship, rather than the true God. The good news for East Dallas is that God is calling people from all walks of life, social classes, and races to come together as His church to worship Him. We fervently believe that the only hope for our community is found in obedience to the good news of Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. Bolstered by this truth, we will strive with all our might as God's people to be messengers of His salvation to our world.

* By God's grace alone, our church and community will cherish the triune God of the Bible above all other competitors for their affection.

* By God's grace alone, those in our church and beyond will cherish their relationship to the local church as a vital part of their lives.

* By God's grace alone, our church will give themselves in acts of service toward each other and the community - acts of service that will compellingly testify to the reality of the saving power of Jesus Christ.

* By God's grace alone, our church will be so captivated by the amazing grace of the gospel that she will share this good news of grace both at home and abroad.

Strategy: The mission of Faith Community Church will be achieved with the following principles central:

1. Word: An authentic life of worship is shaped by the Word of God.

2. With Each Other: An authentic life of worship occurs in community.

3. Work: An authentic life of worship produces acts of service.

4. Witness: An authentic life of worship must be shared.
