Directions to Piney Grove

From I-440 Beltline

  • Travel to the Glenwood Exit going west on Glenwood toward Durham
  • Travel to Pleasant Valley Road and make a right between Burger King and Bunky's Car Wash
  • Travel about a quarter mile on Pleasant Valley, the church will be on the right beside Gold's Gym.

    From I-540 Beltline

  • Take the HWY70/Glenwood Avenue Exit going east toward Raleigh (Crabtree Valley Mall)
  • Take Glenwood pass Millbrook Ave, the next light after Millbrook will be Pleasant Valley Road.
  • Make a left on Pleasant Valley Road in between Burger King and Bunky's Car wash.
  • Travel about a quarter mile on Pleasant Valley, the church will be on the right beside Gold's Gym. 3813 Pleasant Valley Road.

  • January 3- First Sunday, Epiphany- First Communion
  • January 10- Second Sunday, Sister Sylvella Robison will preach her initial sermon during morning worship. Our first church conference will be held immediately following morning worship.
  • January 17- MLK Sunday, January 18 Martin Luther King Day celebrated.
  • Saturday,January 30- "A Spirit of Excellence" Leadership Conference with Dr. Gail Hayes- 10:00 AM to 2:00 PM with lunch. Registration $10.00.

    "But as it now is, He [Christ] has acquired a [priestly] ministry which is as much superior and more excellent [than the old] as the covenant (the agreement) of which He is the Mediator (the Arbiter, Agent) is superior and more excellent, [because] it is enacted and rests upon more important (sublimer, higher, and nobler) promises."     Watchnight Worship- 10:30 PM, Thursday, December 31, 2009 at Piney Grove. Pastors Barrington Ross and Joan Hopton, pastor of New Bethel Community AME Church will preach. Let have a Hallelujah time as we bring in the new year!

    April 2009

  • April 6, members of the church will visit and fellowship with Sis. Gladys Dunn after morning worship.

  • Thursday, April 9-The Gospel Choir will meet at 7:00 PM and officers will be elected. The praise team will meet at 6:00 PM.

  • April 10- GOOD FRIDAY Worship- 12:00 Noon, Piney Grove AME Church "7 Stations of the Cross"

  • April 11- The YPDers will serve at the shelter. We need participants to provide food at the shelter by 11:30 AM. The menu is chicken (YPD will provide) macaroni and cheese, green beans, rolls and deserts . Also, bring a gift for our AME shelter brothers.

  • April 12- Resurrection Sunday (EASTER) - Sunrise Worship, 5:30 AM, Piney Grove will fellowship with Lincolnville AME Church, the Reverend Vernon Burns, Pastor, 6400 Chapel Hill Road, Raleigh, N.C. 27607. The Rev. Leotis Strong, Pastor of St. James Method AME will preach. Breakfast will be served.

  • Resurrection Worship at Piney Grove at 11:00 AM.

  • Sunday, April 19- The Women's Missionary Society will meet in the Fellowship Hall, we will begin at 1:15 PM. All society members should be in attendance. All officers please be prepared to give a report. Thank you, Sister Shawn Ross

  • April 26- Church Anniversary- CONFERENCE CLAIMS of $50 for each member are due.

  • March 7- The YPDer's will serve at the AME Shelter.

  • March 8- We will celebrate Family and Friends Day Talent at 3:00 PM at Piney Grove. We will have potluck dinner after 11 AM morning worship.

  • March 18,19,20- New Bethel Community AME Church, Rev. Joan Hopton, Pastor will hold a Spring Revial at Piney Grove AME. The Rev. Allonia Holmes, Pastor of Living Waters AME will be the guest revivalist each night at 7:00 PM. Come out and be revived!

  • March 29- MISSIONARY DAY at 11:00 AM, Dr. Debra Boyd,PhD, Global Missionary,and NCCU Foriegn Language Chair will be our guest speaker.

    Sept. 14, Have you registered to vote? The Women's Missionary Society is hosting a voters registration drive immediately following worship service. Sister Emilie is organizing this effort. Election Day Tuesday, November 4, 2008.

  • Saturday, September 20 - Martha McCauley Area Meeting begins at 9:30AM
  • Saturday, September 20 - Youth choir practice begins at 12 noon. If you are unable to attend please contact Mr. Lassiter before Saturday.
  • Saturday, September 20 and 28 - NEW MEMBERS TRAINING 1-3 PM.
