Who We Are & What We Believe
First Baptist Church is affiliated with the Atlantic Association
of the North American Baptist Conference, and has been in Jamesburg
for more than 100 years.
We believe that the Bible (66 books) constitute the inspired, innerrant
and authoritative Word of God. In it's pages, God has communicated all
that is necessary for salvation and Christian Living. (2 Tim.3:16-17)
We believe that there is only one true God who exists eternally in three
co-equal persons: God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit.
(Eph.4:4-6)
We believe that Jesus Christ is the Son of God, fully God and fully man.
We believe that He was born of a virgin, lived a sinless life, and atoned
for the sins of man by His death on a cross. He rose from the dead and
promised to return soon. He always keeps His promises. (John 1; 3:16)
We believe that man was created in the image of God, but deliberately chose to disobey Him
bringing physical and eternal death upon the human race. (Rom.3:23-26; 5:12)
We believe that man's severed relationship with God can only be
restored through personal faith in Christ alone, and his death on
the cross. This, our salvation, is entirely God's work; we can do
nothing to earn or attain it (Eph.2:8-9)
We believe that salvation for man was provided in the death of Christ
on man's behalf. We are saved eternally as we place our faith in Christ
alone, repenting of our sin and trusting Him. (Eph.2:8-9; John 3:16)
We believe that the local church consists of all individuals who have
been saved and baptized and have joined together to carry out the Great
Commission of making disciples. (Matt.28:18-20)
What Makes First Baptist Church Special...
COMMITMENT TO GOD'S WORD. The Bible has been given to us as the all-
sufficient guide to faith and Christian conduct. It is our map and our
compass through life. Only with the help of the Holy Spirit do we understand
it literally and apply it completely.
RELATIONSHIPS. We all need to be needed! FBC provides several ways
for you to be connected to other believers, for the benefit of your own
walk with God, and that of your family. Our Men's Ministry, Women's
Ministry Fellowship, Mother's Club, Youth Ministry and Crossroads Youth
Cafe, Olympian Club for Kids, and monthly adult fellowships will
introduce you to people who have the same goals and interests s you do.
WORSHIP. We believe that worship must be vibrant and alive if it is to
draw you into God's presence. Here you will find worship which is prayerfully
prepared and presented in a tastefully contemporary format.
PERSONAL GROWTH. Wherever you are in your walk with God, you will be given
the tools you need to grow in your relationship with Christ, from a new
believer to a mature disciple-maker.
