Dr. James E. Cossey, is a native of Hot Springs, Arkansas, and has been senior pastor since January 31, 1992. He previously served churches in Arkansas, Tennessee, Michigan and Florida. He has also served the Church of God as Editor of World Missions Publications at the International Offices in Cleveland, Tennessee, and as a State Youth and Christian Education Director in the states of Iowa and Oklahoma.
Pastor Cossey is a pastor/teacher, with strong emphasis given to the expository and textual styles of preaching. He also preaches each Sunday morning on the radio and does a daily Bible study program "live" from "The Pastor's Study." He and his wife, Myrlene, are the parents of a daughter, CaSondra, who was married to Mr. Matthew W. Green on December 20, 1997. The Green's reside in Summerdale, Alabama.
The Loxley Church of God was organized on February 23, 1943 in a private home. It is a classical Pentecostal congregation, with strong emphasis on preaching/teaching, dynamic music and worship, discipleship training and development, children and youth, and missions. The Loxley Church of God led the Churches of God in Alabama last year in total world missions giving. Current membership is 615.
