Friends Upper Room
"The man will show you a large Upper Room furnished with couches. Make the preparations there." -Luke 22:12 The earliest Christians met in each other's homes, often in secret for fear of persecution. It was there that Jews began to mingle with Gentiles and pagans. To break the bread, taste the wine, and share the stories of Jesus. In this intimate surrounding soul friendships were born. Missionaries heard their call. "Christ" began. Friends meet in the Upper Room now for the same reasons. Called to Jesus, hearing the Call of God, we come together as the Body of Christ. We still meet in that Upper Room and tell the stories, break the bread, pour the wine, and learn to love each other.
Sinners Anonymous
Anyone who is familiar with 12 step programs might feel that the root of some of our addictions is sin. Our refusal to trust God and in God's Love led some of us to an addiction. Some of us are addicted to sin. Some of us are just addicts. Some of us are just sinners. We come together once a week to admit to ourselves and others that we are sinners. We came to recognise that our lives were out of control because of our sin. We came to believe that A Higher Power WILL give us this day our daily bread, and forgives us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us, and lead us not into temptation, but deliver us from all evil.
