Kennerly Temple Church of God in Christ

About our Church

Kennerly Temple is known as one of the mother churches in our organization. Founded in the late 1890-'s to the early 1900's, it is one of most popular churches in our organization. Our church was frequented by our Founding Bishop, C. H. Mason. Our church was pastored by two pioneering Bishops, Bishop R.R. Booker and Bishop Daniel Bostick. Our church has produced some of our denomination's finest pastors and evangelists. The great Evangelist Maria Gardner grew up in our church, as well as St. Louis' own Bishop Dwight McDaniels served as our Assistant Pastor before beginning his own ministry, just to name a few. Our radio broadcast, which began in Jan. 1949, during our January Revival, has brought to our city some of the most influentials voices in gospel preaching as well as gospel singing and it can still be heard on Sunday Evenings. Our present pastor Bishop R. J. Ward, serves as the Jurisdictional Prelate of Eastern Missouri and Kennerly Temple is also home to our Jurisdictional Supervisor of Women along with other Jurisdictional Leaders. Our church is the headquarters for the Eastern Missouri Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ. Our Denomination's headquarters is in Memphis, TN. where Bishop Chandler D. Owens is our Presiding Bishop. We are proud of our heritage and look forward to a rewarding future in the name of Jesus Christ. We love the Lord and we look forward to fellowshipping with you.
