Graham Chapel CME Church was founded from a spirit of freedom following the Emancipation Proclamation. The first General Conference was held December 15, 1870, in Jackson, Tennessee. Our first Bishop Elias Cottrell, was the first of five Bishops that served in the following century.
The church had its beginning when a group of outstanding men saw a need for a place to worship. According to the records and deed, Mrs. Mary Ann McDougal gave a parcel of land on which the church was built. Graham Chapel today stands as a beacon of light throughout Savannah, TN. We have made a continuous stride to enhance what our forefathers had begun.
To God Be The Glory For The Things God Has Done.
"O, God, you are my God, earnestly I seek you; my soul thirsts for you, my body longs for you, in a dry and weary land where there is no water. I have seen you in the sanctuary and beheld your power and your glory. Because your love is better than life; my lips will glorify you. I will praise you as long as I live, and in your name I will lift up my hands. My soul will be satisfied as with the riches of foods; with singing lips my mouth will praise you". Psalm 63:1-5
