He is risen! This is a message for all generations. Another Easter season
is upon us which is another opportunity to tell all who will listen that
Jesus was sent here to redeem mankind for our sis. He is the sacrificial lamb.
Behold the Lamb. Our Lord and Savior came to fulfill the scripture and died the
horrible death that we read and sing about. Just think of the beating he
took, the cross he had to bear, the shame and humiliation, the nails in his
hands and feet, the crow of thorns on his head, the betrayal, the denial, the doubt:
It seems too much for one man to bear. It is no wonder that he became
so overcome with grief at the Garden of Gethsemane. The scripture says, "Then
saith he unto them, My soul is exceeding sorrowful, even unto death: tarry
ye here, and watch with me. And he went a little farther, and fell on his
face, and prayed, saying, O my Father, if it be possible, let this cup pass
from me: nevertheless not as I will, but as thou wilt." The death of the cross was an
awesome act of love by one who could have called down twelve legions of angels to do
battle for him, but he suffered, bled and died for you and me. Saints, let's tell it.
Easter traditionally brings worshippers to our services that normally won't
come at any other time. Let's show them love and say a kind word or do a kind
deed just as Jesus did. Amen.
We have just concluded a very busy phase of the year. Certainly, we have been
busy working in the vineyard and our calendar yet remains full but I want
to thank everyone for their support, their faithfulness, their attendance and hard work.
The Ministers and Workers Meeting was a success and we represented wll with our
membership dues to the national church. Again, I thatnk you for all who helped
with the task of registering each of you with the national church. The Church of God
In Christ, Inc. is documented as the fastest growing denomination in the
country and paying your annual dues of $12.00 per member is how we are counted.
Now that we have finished the shut-in (the Lord certainly did bless)
we are continuing to plan for the homecoming celebration. Be prepared
to have your picture taken at some point during your attendace at one of the services.
The committee is preparing a church pictorial journal of all the members and
auxiliaries and we need everyone's cooperation. Please avail yourself and
make sure you are included in the pictorial.
Along with the homecoming celebration, our financial drive continues. Each
member has been assigned to a tribe. Please contact your tribe leader to update
your records or see me if you are unaware of which tribe you are assigned to.
We will be holding a special Brotherhood program this month, April 26th.
We expect to have a wonderful time in the Lord. Our men are diligently planning
this event. Please be prepared to support this program.
As I close, I want to also invite you to the YWCC breakfast to be held April 25th at 7:00 a.m.
at the church. This is always a blessed event. The food is excellent, the fellowship
uplifting, and the service to the Lord is awe-inspiring.
God bless you all.
