Hello. My name is Chris Hearn. I am currently serving as a missionary to a 200+ member church in Klintsy, Russia. I am a member of the First Baptist Church of San Diego. Klintsy is located in western Russia, where the countries of Russia, Belorussia and Ukraine come together. It has a population of 100,000. Approximately one-quarter of its population are under 18. This church is the largest Protestant Church in Klintsy. It was founded by Russian-Baptists decades ago. The pastor of Klintsy Baptist is Yevgenni Voronin. Perhaps you would like to be a part of God's work here. Here are projects currently being worked on: 1. Building of new church/multi-purpose building. This is their third year of hand-by-hand construction. They hope to have the opening for the building during the fall of this year. 2. Completion of the children's learning center inside the new church building. This will enable non-Christian kids to learn about God and the Bible along with Christian kids. Cost- appx. $3,500 at the minimum. 3. Setting up children's camps for children who live in radiated areas. These kids find their health deteriorating because they live in areas that are polluted by radiation. A U.N. study showed that by getting children into areas that don't have any radiation (*clean area*), for even one month, this can increase their life-span by 2 years. At this camp, both non-Christian and Christian kids would receive Sunday school teaching and also be taken to a *clean area* where they would play Christian games together. Cost- The minimum that needs to be spent for a camp is around $50.00 pr. child for two weeks. FUTURE PLANS: 4. Establishing a Christian medical clinic. Approx. 300,000 people in the area around Klintsy need to have their stomachs checked for cancer. This is due to the radiation that they received (and some are still receiving it in various forms) from the Chernobyl disaster. There are 2 diagnostic machines in Klintsy to serve these 300,000 people. If they had more machines, then more people could be checked and checked sooner. Then the doctors would have a better chance of saving the person's life. With the Christian clinic, saving not only bodies but souls as well would be part of the job. The workers would be free to share about Christ and God's love. They also would be able to tell their patients about the church and give them free copies of the New Testament. What a blessing it would be to tell a patient whose life has just been saved, that God saved their life, and wants to save their soul as well. To my knowledge, this would be the first full-time Christian medical clinic in all of Russia. Cost: Approx. $13,000- $15,000 for each diagnostic machine. The machines could be housed and operated in a room or two that are already a part of the new church building. So there is no need to construct anything new. 5. Construction of a 3 story apartment building on the church grounds. This apartment would mainly be for members of the church. Cost: The cost of the building will be paid for from 3 main areas: 1. Private (outside of Russia) sponsors and donors- 45%. 2. Physical labor of the people who will live in the apts.- 30%. 3. Money from people who will live in the apts. (appx. $2,000- $3,000)- 25%. 6. Christian orphanage. There are no Christian orphanages in all of Russia. Combine this with the fact that homeless and abused children is a very large and serious problem in Russia. A Christian orphanage would give many children a safe place to live. A place where they would receive love from the Christian staff, along with Christian education. Instead of being taught atheism, or nothing at all about God, children who have no father would be taught about their Father in Heaven who loves them. Cost: The government would pay for salaries for the workers and the base cost for food for the children. The Church would have to come up with the cost for constructing the building and providing some supplies. 7. Evangelism. In order to more effectively evangelize and to do administrative work much more effectively, Klintsy Baptist needs a zerox machine. With a machine, invitations can be copied and given to unbelievers in Klintsy (or any other of the 47 towns and villages). Also advertisements advertising future church services and sermon topics could be copied and distributed. Paper is not a problem. Cost: Between $500-800. So as you can see, there's a lot going on and a lot that CAN be going on, with your help. And of course, you are free to be as active, involved and hands-on as you want. You can say exactly where you want your financial support to go. You can also give as little or as much as you want. You can receive video and pictures showing how your support is being used. If you like, you can come visit Klintsy and meet pastor Voronin and the church members in person. This is not a ministry where you give money and/or other support and never hear back from me again. Rather, this is a ministry in which you will be able to see visible, tangible results from your help. Here is a poem for you. Please feel free to send and/or copy it to share with others- believers and non-Christians alike. All for God alone to receive the glory! : ) Jesus is always with me. In the morning when I wake, His sun shines to greet me. Through the day He's here. >From His rain that refreshes and brings life, to the fog that cools, and wraps the gentle works of His hands like a present. When His sun sets, He is with me with the colors of the sky. He creates His work. Slowly, carefully, never rushed. Till the crescendo comes, and the canvas begins to slowly fade. But even then, Jesus is with me. I look up to the lights, each one unique with its own distinct touch from the Master. When I look up and see nothing, Jesus sends a gentle breeze to remind me. He has not forgotten. Please feel free to pass this poem on to others- Christian and non. JESUS LOVES YOU AND HE IS ALWAYS WITH YOU!! : ) Praise Jesus Christ, our Lord and Savior for that. : ) Heb. 13:5-6 Psalm 37:1-11 Psalm 119:105 Philippians 4:19-20 Galatians 2:15-21 (esp. v. 21) Galatians ch. 6 (all)
