The Salvation Army Sydney Community Church
The Salvation Army Sydney Community Church is located on Cape Breton Island in the province of Nova Scotia. This particular Salvation Army church has been in existence since July 4. 1999. Two separate Salvation Army Churches in the Sydney area (Sydney Citadel and Whitney Pier Citadel)have recently amalgamated comprising the brand new Sydney Community Church. We are presently worshiping at the Citadel located on 91 Church Street and the Church Office is there as well. You are welcome to worship with us.
Social Ministries
As part of the ongoing ministry of the Sydney Community Church and as part of our committment to the community we are pleased to offer many community programs through our extensive Community and Family Services operation. We provide emergency assistance to people through accommodation, transportation, food, clothing, and necessary counselling and community referrals. Certainly this is an important and much needed program in Sydney today.
In addition to the afore-mentioned programs and services outlined on this Webpage The Salvation Army Sydney Community Church also operates a Thrift Store at 152 Victoria Rd. We are able to provide clothing and furniture at reasonable prices. This is an important and much appreciated ministry outlet of our church.
We are also involved with a snack program for the school children in our city.
We operate a Seniors Day Care at Parkdale House, 47 Byng Avenue. This program offers respite care for both seniors with Alzhemiers and for those who just like to get out of the house for the day and socialize. Parkdale ministries operates from Monday to Friday (8:30-4:30).
