Our Story
SMITH Church shares in the important history of the Lumberton Circuit. According to a church deed, Smith Church was founded before 1853. The earliest deed is dated February 3, 1853, which refers to a parcel of land joining the land of Smith Church. Smith Church is historically connected to Regan Church and the Lumberton Circuit. A 1884 map of Robeson County list several families living around Smith Church. These included: Seth Smith, J.C. Smith, Jeremiah Smith, D. Smith, Noah Mercer, R.M. Sessoms, W. Bryant and M. Allen. Smith UMC continues in a rich history. Let us know Who We Are! We are the people of God in mission and ministry to the world.
