Finding God

Scripture Reference: John 4:26

In John 4:26 Jesus said to the woman at the well "I AM, the one who is speaking to you".

Dear reader, God is speaking to you. Often, continually, gently, simply, in ways you can understand. We often get confused, and seek God in ways which do not help us. We get very religious in knowing his voice. But, God is nearer, and more direct than anyone. He is a good communicator. Even - especially - to us who are poor listeners. He is merciful. It is good to be grasped by God's kind revelation - Jesus Christ. To meet him, this very moment, by faith. That is most important. That inspires our trust! (Let's not beat around the bush - like the woman at the well - and ask questions about religion). Let us receive what he gives us. Let us accept the revelation, Jesus brings, as His Holy Spirit prizes us open to God.

God reveals Himself continually. Revelation comes down to us. Faith sees! Religion attempts to climb up to God, scratching, clawing and slipping all the while. The Spirit of God is at work in our lives - always. We are well practised at ignoring God's voice. But then sometimes it happens. We just meet Christ. What a relief.

Meeting Christ by Faith, opens to us the presence and love of the Father. And the wonder of revelation unfolds. Creation, Law, the Prophets, Dreams and Visions, and more.

"It is precisely the hidden things, inaccessible to sensible perception, that are displayed by the Spirit of God." says Karl Barth.

To hear God's Word is to receive revelation. This is not a mystical thing. But willingness to respond is required. Without that, then the semi-spooky confusion continues! Still adrift with the mystic?

We have many people in Australia, who think they are too practical to be bothered with God. Aussies. Ocker's. Down to earth types. Tough, yes. But stunted. Indeed most impractical. To look into that hole 6 feet below, and have no answer. That is impractical living.

Having faith is more practical even, than being an 'Ocker-Aussie!' That is, a tough Australian. So then - hear him, beleive his grace is for you. Rejoice. Ask for all you need. Wait. It comes. Ask for more, wait, go again. A good walk with Christ! Very practical. What a revelation.

Thanks Lord - you are so practical and clear. Amen.
