The First African Methodist Episcopal Zion Church is more than an organization of people, it is the body of which Christ is the head. The members are encouraged to cultivate their own personal relationship with God through studying His word and enhancing their prayer life. The mission of the church as Christ's Ambassadors is to make disciples for Jesus Christ, by teaching, baptizing, and evangelizing, in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. Morever, church and family unity, and community service is encouraged.

CELEBRATING 157 YEARS !

First Church was organized in the City of San Francisco in August 1852. It is one of the oldest African American churches in the City of San Francisco and has a rich heritage of service to God and humankind. The vision of First Church is to be imitators of God; as dearly loved children and live a life of love, just as Christ loved us and gave himself up for us as a fragrant offering and sacrifice to God.

You are welcome to come and worship the Lord in the Beauty of Holiness.
