OUR MISSION

To meet Christ and to make him known through loving, sharing and caring actions.



GROUPS



ALPHA

This a 10 Week Introduction to the Christian Faith with the use of a Video and Discussion Format. It is open to everyone and you are welcome. We have offered four courses in the last few years. More Courses will be offered in the Future.

BIBLE STUDIES

Birtle: Wednesdays at 7:30 pm at Parishioner's Home
Miniota: Wednesdays at 10 am in a Parishioner's Home from October to May

FAMILY GUILD

This is a very hard working group of men and women who do various activities to help in Family Fellowship and Church maintenance. They meet once a month. They have in recent past sponsored a Sleigh Ride, Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper, and a Parish Picnic.



ANGLICAN CHURCH WOMEN(ACW)

Every Church has an active group and meets regularly once a month.



ST. GEORGE'S JUNIOR AUXILIARY(JA)

This is a youth group of ages 8 to 12 which meets every 2ND Wednesday at 3:30pm to 5pm during the school year.


VESTRIES

Each church has a governing body made up members elected at our Annual Meetings

PAST EVENTS:



1. Our Parish had a celebration of NEW MINISTRY for our new Rector Tom Stradwick on Thursday September 8, 2005 at 7:00 p.m. at St. George's Church in Birtle. Rev Tom Stradwick is now officially the Rector of St. George's Birtle, St. Paul's Shoal Lake, Holy Trinity Miniota, and St. James Solsgirth. A fine group of people from the wider parish attended along with many visitors from out of Town. People like Bishop Jim Njegovan Bishop of the Diocese of Brandon who took the service, Sermon by the Rev. James Bardsley of Neepawa. We noted Clergy from Minneodsa, Rev. Garry MacDowall, plus Clergy from Brandon, Rivers, Glenbora. Plus Rev. Dwight Rutherford from the United Church in Binscarth and Rev. Alfred Reschke from the Baptist Church in Shoal Lake. A Good fellowship time followed after the service with lunch.

2. All Congregation of the Wider Parish met with Holy Trinity Church in Miniota to celebrate the presentation of a Centennial Organization Award by Dr. L. Gordon Goldsborough from Winnipeg, President of the Manitoba Historical Society on October 23, 2005. The Manitoba Historical Society inaugurated this award award, acknowledging the contributions of non-profit and not-for profit groups that have operated continuously in Manitoba for 100 years or more, in 2004, Holy Trinity celebrated its 100th Anniversary in 2000. Great turn out, lunch and visiting followed.

3. November 10th/05 Coffee and Muffin Morning, was held at St. George's Birtle. Good Turn Out, Thank-you.

4. November 11th/05 REMEMBRANCE DAY SERVICE was held in St. George's Birtle with the Rev. Tom Stradwick.

5. November 12th/05 a Open House was held at the Rectory in Birtle in Honour of Tom and Nancy Stradwick. Their 25th Anniversary.

6. The wider parish had their pictures taken this week Feb. 8, 9, 10, 2006 for our new photo directory. It was about 10 years ago since the last photo directory was done. Thanks for everyone who came out in these winter conditions.

7. February 11th, 2006. The J.A. Group held there annual Valentine's Tea at St. George's Church in Birtle. A great afternoon and a Job well done. Thank-you J.A.

8. On April 2,2006 Holy Trinity, Miniota had a - SPECIAL GUEST PEACHER, Melanie Walker, spoke about her weekend attending Youth Quake in Carninport, Sask.

9. St. George's Birtle held a Special 50th Anniversary Evensong Service on Saturday April 22 at 5:30 p.m. With Supper and Entertainment. Then on Sunday April 23rd St. George's held a Contemporary Service with the Dragon Slayers music at 11:00 am. We were very pleased with the turn out and everyone enjoyed the trip down memory lane. Coffee and Lunch followed the service.

10. February 20/07 - THE FAMILY GUILD again invited the community to the Annual St. George's BIRTLE Shrove Tuesday Pancakes and sausages followed by a Whist Drive. A great evening was held.
