Westford's History

1906 - Five women formed a Sunday School class in a home on Green St. in Concord, NC. Ultimately, they desired to organize a Methodist church and bring the gospel of Jesus Christ to the western part of Concord.

1907 - The Methodist Conference sent Dr. & Mrs. W.C. Huston to help officially organize the Westford Methodist Church.

1908 - Land was donated on Office Dr. by Hartsell Mill and a white frame, wooden building was constructed. Rev. W.C. Jones was the first appointed pastor.

1941 - The original building was torn down and a new building was constructed by the men of the church with completion on April 4, 1943.

1951 - A separate Fellowship Hall was built next to the church. This was the first building to be built with borrowed money. It was paid in full by 1960.

1989 - All the Office Dr. buildings were sold while construction of the first phase of the current building on Highway 49 begun.

1990 - The congregation relocated to the current building.

1995 - The second phase of construction at the current location was completed which included a new sanctuary.

2003 - The Family Life Center was opened for all to enjoy!
