What is Reach Out?
Reach Out is a 128 page guide published annually as a reference source on
short-term and part-time mission opportunities for especially
(but not exclusively) people of Southern Africa.
This year, 2000, sees the eleventh edition of the Reach Out guide as well as
the fourth edition made available on the Web! It tells about more than a 100
unique opportunities to share Jesus Christ with other people --- some nearby, others far away in another country
with a different culture. You are invited to take part by praying for the outreaches,
sending others, or going yourself --- and be assured that through it all
you will grow spiritually and become enriched with new and fresh
perspectives.
What is available on the Web?
Our Web pages are still under development, but you can already see all the
outreaches published in the Reach Guide as well as new ones or updates that
is too late for this year's guide.
To access it, you can
- browse through the contents and see the name of each outreach,
alphabetically according to destination area;
- use the date index to find an outreach that match your vacation;
- use the index pages to find an outreach that match your preferences,
e.g. working with children, drama, etc.; or
- start at the first page and go through all of them
What will you find in the printed version?
The guide is intended to be used as a source of reference, as a prayer
guide and as a tool to motivate others to become "labourers" in the
harvest. The guide contains the following information:
- a manual with applicable articles equipping you for
outreaches and coming home afterwards
- information about special training and mobilising conferences
and related outreach opportunities
- outreach opportunities that you can take part in on a
part-time basis, e.g. once a week
- short-term outreach opportunities all over the world --- Southern
Africa, Africa, the 10/40 Window, Europe and other countries of the world
- opportunities to use your professional skills and other
gifts/facilities in the Lord's service --- as a long term
tentmaker or on a short-term basis
- important resource information ---
available mission tools (e.g. tracts),
mission training opportunities,
mission consultants who can assist you, and
pointers to mission info on the Internet
- dates of mission events (e.g.
mission weeks), including a comprehensive date index
--- look what's happening during your holiday!
- prayer calendar, telephone and general index --- pray weekly
according to the calendar and use the indexes for quick
lookup of address details or to determine
the outreach on which you would like to go
Where does Reach Out come from?
The guide has been compiled by INSERV, the
Institute for Strategic Services, in collaboration with other mission
organisations and individuals. Reach Out is paid for by the advertisers
and organisations making their projects known, as well as by the
contributions of various people. You are welcome to help sponsor the
guide at R12 per copy. We want to thank each one that supported us
through prayer or by giving!
This guide is being offered as a service to interested Christians,
churches, and mission organisations. Although the various projects have
been scrutinized, no responsibility can be taken for any project or for
anything that may happen on the outreaches.
Advertise your mission outreaches!
To churches, missionary organisations, Bible schools, etc. we provide
the opportunity to make their projects known or to advertise their
products or services. Should you wish to supply information for, or to
place an advertisement in the next edition or on the Web, please contact
us via e-mail at reachout@inserv.org.za or via surface mail at the address
given below.
