Barnabas* Ministries: Statement of Faith

*Son of Encouragement (Acts 4:36 )

We believe in one God Who is eternally triune, Father, Son and Spirit.

We believe that man was created in the image of God, that he sinned and fell, experiencing both physical and spiritual death and eternal separation from God.

We believe that to reconcile man with God, the Son became flesh in the person of the man, Jesus Christ, to dwell among men. He was begotten by the Holy Spirit and born of the Virgin Mary and is both true God and true man.

We believe that Jesus died on the cross as a sacrifice for our sin, that He rose again in bodily form, and ascended into heaven. We believe that He will bodily, visibly return again in the glory of God.

We believe that salvation is by faith in the finished work of Jesus Christ, and that the believer is declared righteous based upon the shed blood of Christ. Salvation is not the result of any human merit. We agree with Jesus Christ that believers are eternally secure and that no one can take them out of the Father's hands.

We believe that the Holy Spirit is a unique, divine person, Who is at work in the world today, convicting sinners, and regenerating, indwelling and sanctifying believers. We believe that the Holy Spirit baptizes and gifts believers for the upbuilding of the church.

We believe that all Scripture is truth, inspired by God Who is Truth, as a testimony to Himself and His work. Scripture is infallible, inerrant, and sufficient for guidance in faith and practice.

We believe that in this, the church age, believers are all part of the Body of Christ, and are to be one in Christ in answer to the Lord's Prayer in John 17. We believe that the universal church includes all born again believers, regardless of organizational affiliation. We believe that locally, believers need to assemble together for fellowship, for instruction, and for opportunities for ministry.

We believe in the bodily resurrection of all men: believers to enjoy eternal life with God, and unbelievers to judgement and eternal separation from God.

"We who serve Him must learn to look to Him for His blessing. Without that our faithfulness, our diligence, our faith and our prayers will be unavailing: but with that, even if our work is faulty and our faith feeble, we shall not labor in vain. Everything in our service for the Lord is dependent upon His blessing." --Watchman Nee
