This book continues the story of the monarchy begun in I Kings. The Hebrew nation has been broken into two, a northern kingdom called Israel, and the southern kingdom of Judah. This book is paralleled in II Chronicles 1-20. II Kings covers Israel's captivity and the surviving kingdom.
